LifeProven Announces Key Appointment to Accelerate ESG-Driven Growth: Jacob Murphy Joins as Associate Director

Project & Cost Management

LifeProven, the specialist ESG real estate consultancy, announces another important step in its growth with the appointment of its latest Associate Director.

Jacob Murphy joins LifeProven from Gardiner and Theobald - the London-based, independent global project, cost and construction management consultancy - where he had worked in project management for the last eight years.

“It was increasingly clear to me that greater attention to ESG at all stages of the investment and development lifecycle is only increasing and becoming the deciding factor in the current and future delivery of real estate assets, and that LifeProven is at the forefront in its approach to support clients navigate this new world,” says Murphy, who also holds a chartered membership with Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in a cost management discipline.
“Environmental sustainability has already been something I’ve cared about strongly, with a passion for nature, and very few companies within the real estate sector are thinking ahead on this topic with such equal weighting to social impact and governance,” Murphy suggests. “It perhaps requires a smaller, more dynamic company with a more entrepreneurial spirit to actually get these new ideas into action”.

Murphy will head up LifeProven’s Project Management division to service its growing requirement supporting asset managers and developers bridge the gap between cutting edge, commercially driven ESG advisory with on the ground traditional asset delivery – to ensure ESG initiatives actually come to life. Murphy’s role comes with the additional remit of leading the company to taking on projects overseas for the first time, with new commissions in US, Singapore and Hong Kong

His unusually wide experience will be particularly pertinent: with his previous employer Murphy was involved in the management of a diverse range of developments and mixed-use projects across the industrial and commercial sectors – even a Damian Hirst art installation, ‘this has given me an understanding of how clients and their stakeholders differ more widely than is perhaps appreciated in the industry” says Murphy.

“In our plans to build a strong management team we recognised that we needed someone with Jacob’s breadth and depth of experience, and especially his experience of working with very large clients as we embark on this next chapter of our company’s exciting growth,” comments LifeProven co-founder Jordan Relfe, who notes that the company’s clients are increasingly requiring guidance on the asset implementation of fund and investment level strategies LifeProven have been managing over the last 2-3 years.
“But Jacob is also the right cultural fit for LifeProven,” Relfe adds. “He has the appetite to unlock the kind of problems that the blend of project management and ESG is generating”.
